Ballpark It is now open source

Yep, that’s right. You can now access the code that makes ballpark run. How exciting?!?! Whoohoo!

Seriously, though, there was really no reason for me to keep the repo private (I was at the limit, anyway). After all, I built it for anyone to use. I’m just now getting around to clicking the “make public” button on github.

I can’t say what needs done or what doesn’t work or whatever. To my knowledge it all works and works well. I do know that the tests don’t quite cover 100% of the code, and there are still a few things in the mix that I’ve yet to get to (features, not bugs).

As mentioned in a previous post, here are a few things that are (were?) on my radar:

  • Drag-n-drop reordering of project tasks
  • PDF downloads (or exports)
  • Ability to send estimates to clients from within Ballpark
  • Mobile support for viewing estimates

Also, no need to worry about any licensing issues; it’s yours to do with it what you wish. Fork it. Host it. Enjoy it. Whatever license has that motto, that’s the one I choose :-)
